On October 7, 2023, an alert went through my phone, and I saw the headline that stated, “Hamas attacked Israel”. This wasn’t the first I’d ever heard of an attack from Hamas but for some reason, I felt it in my heart that this one was different. Then the next headline came through my phone saying, “Netanyahu says We are at war!” and again in my gut I felt this sinking feeling and thought to myself this would be the one. This would be the conflict that would be the worst. I thought to myself that a lot of Palestinians were going to die.
At that point in my life, I didn’t know everything about the Israel/Palestinian conflict, but I knew enough to know that this was serious. Sadly, those sinking feelings ended up being true. Today there are 30,000 plus dead Palestinians with 25,000 of them being women and children. This was a terrible event that will certainly be a pinpoint in history. Just destruction and waste of life and as sad as it this isn’t the article yet that will go into how we got here in the first place.
This piece is about how we got to a point where there’s a literal genocide going on in the world and there are more Christians who either think this is perfectly acceptable, part of a necessary prophecy, or are too afraid to call it out. See because while the most important issue from October 7th is the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians there was still one more issue that stuck out for me. The fact that Christians have not only made an idol of the state of Israel but also made an idol of Israelis themselves and I might even go a step further and say they’ve made idols out of Jews in general.
I understand the words that I'm saying may seem very tough to hear or almost rude, but we must have hard conversations because there are a lot of Christians who are placing their eternal life with the Lord in jeopardy.
Back in April 2023, I had my first run-in with what I would come to know as Christian Zionism when I went on a Ron DeSantis conference call and asked Ron DeSantis supporters how could they be comfortable with Ron going to Jerusalem and signing hate speech laws for Florida? Ron DeSantis attacked the 1st amendment by writing a law that stated if anybody dropped intimidating paraphernalia off at somebody's home or property it could be considered a felony in the state of Florida. He signed this law in Jerusalem and that made it very clear this was a law for Jews and anti-Semitism. Let me be clear before we go any further, I disavow any kind of harm to any group of people. However, I am a black woman who does not believe in hate speech laws because hate is in the eye of the beholder. Meaning that hate is very subjective.
So, when I made this clear to the supporters somebody said to me, “Well Casey you're a Christian like me and I want to see you go to heaven.” I said to the person, “OK yes what do you mean?” The person said to me, “Well Casey you know we have to bless Israel to be blessed.” I told the person that I'd never heard of such a thing.
That was already baffling to me, but I hadn't seen anything yet. Like I said when Israel started lobbing bombs at their neighbors in Gaza, I had many Christians telling me that it was Israel’s right to do so to defend its existence. I had Christians telling me that Israel was the land of the chosen people and that they could do no wrong. I read in certain places that there were Christians who said this should be done by Israel and they should do worse to bring back Jesus. It sounded like total insanity to me, but I needed to know more.
Then I heard the term Christian Zionism and needed more information, so I started to do some digging. Now this article is not going to go into the exact details of the beginnings of Christian Zionism, but I will provide a starting point. I want to provide a summary.
Christian Zionism is the belief that the Jews must go back to Israel to bring the second coming of Christ. The first documented discussion of what would become Christian Zionism came in 1585 by Thomas Brightman who urged the British parliament about getting Jews back to Israel so that the coming of Christ could happen. Later, there would be more people that would talk about this such as Henry Finch who was a British lawyer who was really into getting the Jews back to the promised land of Israel to bring about the coming of Christ.
Protestantism is a breakaway from the Catholic Church. I am a Seventh-Day Adventist and would be considered a Protestant. I thank God for the fact that I was never taught about this blessing Israel concept or bringing Christ through Israel idea. However, it seems that many Protestants just broke away from the church to save Jews and bring them back to Israel.
During the breakaway, a man named John Nelson Darby came up with premillennial dispensationalism. Here is a brief definition of premillennial dispensationalism from Wikipedia.
“Dispensational premillennialism generally holds that Israel and the Church are distinct entities. It also widely holds to the pretribulation return of Christ, which believes that Jesus will return to take up Christians into heaven by means of a rapture immediately before a seven-year worldwide tribulation.”
I've also added a picture for you to kind of understand what we're talking about here.
So, what this is basically saying is that there's going to be a time of peace but before we have that the Jews must be brought back to their homeland and carry out some sort of horrible act that the whole world will come against them and then people will want to fight them because they will bring about the Antichrist. Please stick with me because I know how insane this sounds. Now when they bring about the Antichrist it will take Jesus to fight the Antichrist and so their actions of bringing this deity will bring back Jesus.
There’s even a Bible dedicated to this movement called the Scofield Bible and that has been the major influence for this group of heretics. This Bible is written with the intention of making it clear that Jews are chosen and your existence on this earth is to save them.
At the current moment, there is a sacrifice that is scheduled for some time in March or April. It's called the red heifer sacrifice. There are Christians who bred pure red heifers for this sacrifice because this is supposed to be the event that will bring back that deity. I only explained that to you because I want you to see how far off the tracks Christians have gone. I also will add that this might be the most anti-Semitic thing I've ever heard in my life, and I don't use words like that lightly.
Now I thought there were maybe a few fringe Christians who thought like this. However, when you investigate it, you even have a big mega-church called “Christians United for Israel”. “Christians United for Israel” has been a huge influence in our elections. They work with AIPAC and fundraise millions of dollars for certain electoral candidates that will keep us in forever wars for Israel and that’s a brief explanation of the current American foreign policy. Our foreign policy has been partly guided by the minds of a bunch of hysterical people. This is dangerous for everybody involved.
I want to give you an example of how many people think like this. I was having a discussion online about Jewish influence in our country and telling a pastor that he should call it out more often. By Jewish influence, I'm talking about those citizens who run things like our borders and our treasury as just a couple of examples. He told me that he would not discuss these things because they didn't matter. I said they do matter because these things are causing problems since we don’t know who is truly looking out for the best interests of Americans. He told me that it doesn't matter because it's all part of the prophecy. He also told me not to talk about things that don't understand.
Then it dawned on me that there are Christians out there who allow certain Jews to carry out terrible policies and terrible ideologies because they want the world to get mad at Jews. I want to be as clear as possible I am not calling for any kind of holy war against Christians and Jews at all. I understand that what I'm saying here could cause a lot of Jews to say let's go get the Christians but believe me it is not all Christians who think like this.
However, there are far too many. My response was that I knew the prophecy he was talking about and that there's nothing humans can do to bring back Christ. I will disavow this to the utmost, I don't believe in getting rid of any group of people. What I realized is that while I've been citing facts in history and the present, I can compartmentalize these things. I can see a problem and come up with practical solutions that don’t call for some insane heretic voodoo. This is what I mean when I say that Christians have lost their way.
This type of thinking is dangerous to everyone involved I'm saying that again. The mission of being a Christian is bringing people to the light of Christ. There's nothing more important than that mission. When you realize that's the mission you want to become the best vessel for the Lord possible to bring people to God's light. That is a message where everybody benefits.
I'm writing this right now and I'm almost scared of what I've been saying because I cannot believe that this is where we are as Christians. Because of this thinking, there is a literal genocide going on in Palestine and Christians are not standing up for children of God. Not only are they not standing up for children of God they think that it's their godly duty not to stand up for children of God because they want to stand with the children of Israel.
There is no way you can call yourself a Christian today and think that Jews are the only children of Israel. That means that you're not following Christ because you will know that if you accept Christ into your life, you do become children of Israel through Christ.
“ Galatians 3:29
New International Version
29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. “
You can't have both, so you need to make the proper decision are you following Christ or are you following an ideology?
Blessing Israel to be blessed is full idolatry. To be blessed you have to walk with the Lord and cling close to the Lord because even when you make a mess, he can still bless you. Redemption is for everyone!
There is nothing greater than the light of Christ. When you walk through life guided by the light of Christ you can conquer the mountains of obstacles in your life. It doesn't mean that you're not going to have struggles but the more you cling to God the more you conquer those struggles.
However, it's even better than that. When you accept the light and the pure blood of Christ you realize that your creator loved you so much that he sent his only begotten son for you to have a chance at eternal life with your creator. Your creator the Lord is telling you that you are worth it.
It's sad to think that there are distractions that get in the way of the Christian’s walk with Christ. That's how the devil works, he can't take away your blessings, but he distracts you from them. Do not get distracted from your promises. The Lord loves you.
Remember your mission in Christ is to bring people to the light of Christ and that will help you shine brighter in the name of God. Remember your true mission as a Christian. If you are not a Christian what I can say to you is that the light of Christ is the brightest light that shines today in a World of Darkness. Let go of distractions. You are worth it. Shine bright in the light of Christ.
What do you hope to accomplish and spreading disinformation? People like you are as bad as Hamas.
where do you get these ideas? The IDF is not indiscriminately killing Palestinians, it is not a genocide, and I don’t know any Christians who would think that was okay. Just as we don’t think the genocide being committed by Muslims around the world is okay. Israel did not start this war but they’ve had to endure these atrocities for far too long.
